Advent: In Advent, the Church prepares for the coming of Christ and a renewal of Christian Hope. In this year of Hope, we become especially aware of this gift of Hope, this Advent. Also, this Advent is particularly significant as we celebrate a Jubilee year marking 2025 years since the birth of Christ. The mood of the church-building now reflects this growing hope and trust in God.
Clergy Thoughts: Today is the first Sunday of Advent, Year A. Advent marks the beginning of the Church’s new liturgical calendar. It is a four-week preparation period leading up to Christmas. So, on this first Sunday of Advent, the church enjoins us to rejoice because that night of long pilgrimage to God’s eternal city of peace will soon be fulfilled. However, we must stay awake, for it is a season of great awakening, preparation, and expectation. A time to receive Christ into our lives, our families, our homes, and our world, at the birth of the Messiah. Maranatha, come Lord Jesus! Amen! Fr Alex

Dates for your 2026 diary. The Social Planning Group met recently and continues to work hard to provide a good mix of social activities for the parish. Recent events raised £412 from the Macmillan Coffee Morning, £200 at the Strawberry Afternoon Tea, £700 at the Parish Barbecue and £150 at the Fun Quiz in October.
Next year we have planned for a Film Afternoon on 8 Feb, Bingo and Jacket Potato Supper on 7 March, Strawberry Afternoon Tea on 28 June and a Harvest Festival Service on 20 Sept. More events are likely, and further details will be available in the New Year. Very many thanks go to all helpers, organisers and supporters of these activities, without whom these social and fund-raising events would not happen.
